~Saint Augustine, Confessions
Using the language of textiles, my most recent work explores themes of personal and collective memory. I am interested in the way our experiences of the world are absorbed through the body, and the way these experiences are then sorted through, stored, and revisited. I hope to craft poetic metaphors that speak to the existence of that which resonates just below the surface. While the elusive nature of both personal and collective memory is unseen, it is inextricably linked with our identity. Notions of containment, longing, and desire are alluded to within the work as everyday objects act as metaphor for human presence. |
